Pill Clock, 2011-15

Dropping every 3 seconds on the floor of the exhibition space, white pills gradually form a sculptural element by the large bay window overlooking the Bay of Santander, thus also marking the passing of time. Carsten Höller has always been interested in experimenting with drugs, and how they affect our perception of the world. The visitor is invited to pick up a pill and take it, to see whether it affects her or his relation to the space, the exhibition and reality in general.

Note: these pills have been developed so as to ensure they contain no allergenic substances. However, they are not suitable for vegan visitors.
