You can start out on your tour of the building proper from El Muelle through its western volume, which caters for the Botín Centre Visual Arts Programme. It consists of 2,500 m² of versatile exhibition space, distributed over two floors. Both art rooms, measuring some five metres high, can be used as open spaces, or subdivided by means of moving partitions, depending on the needs of the exhibition in question.
These two galleries are bound on their sides by large, glazed façades that offer magnificent views of the bay and the Pereda Gardens. Moreover, the room on Floor 2 has a roof lit by natural light through an innovative skylight that contains a louvre system to control the ultraviolet rays of the sunlight.
