Going into Light Corridor, a corridor flanked by two luminous walls, can be an enjoyable or an unpleasant experience. It all depends on the frequency and intensity of the flooding light.
Trained as a scientist, Carsten Höller has been studying human perception for years. Among other things, he sets out to study how perception affects our innermost reality, our states of mind. To this end, he has designed different experiments, one of them being Light Corridor.
Walk halfway through the corridor and see what light and its frequency make you feel. Then come out. The odd sensation remains for a while. What was the experience like?
Before you go into the installation, you should know that the frequency of the light inside is 7.8Hz, the same as produced by the human brain during moments of creativity.
